New Xiaomi mid-range smartphones tipped to receive global releases with major name changes rumoured

The Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus only landed globally in early January (curr. $499.50 on Amazon). Launched alongside four other Redmi Note 15 smartphones, the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus made its debut in August in China. With about six months having passed since the device's debut, leakers have now turned their attention towards the prospect of a successor.
According to multiple reports, Xiaomi does not plan to launch the Redmi Note 16 Pro Plus. In fact, the company may skip the Redmi Note 16 series entirely. As with its flagship smartphones, Xiaomi is currently expected to jump straight to the Redmi Note 17 series with 2607DRA18C, 26073RA49C and 2609FRA74C model numbers reportedly in development.
Apparently, one of these three smartphones will arrive as the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max as Xiaomi looks to harmonise its flagship and mid-range smartphone naming schemes. Moreover, Xiaomi Time reports that Xiaomi is working towards bringing the Redmi Note 17 5G and Redmi Note 17 Pro to market too. Early indications suggest that all three smartphones will receive a global release, including the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. More details about potential upgrades remain unknown for now.
