Compact $79 e-reader sticks magnetically to Apple iPhone

After the launch of the Xteink X4 last year, the manufacturer is now expanding the range with the X3, which is even more compact with a screen diagonal of 3.7 inches. With dimensions of 98 × 64 × 4.98 millimeters and a weight of 58 grams, the new model is not only smaller and lighter, the manufacturer is also advertising a series of significant hardware upgrades.
First and foremost, the magnets should now offer extended compatibility, allowing the e-reader to be magnetically attached to the back of even more Qi2-compatible smartphones such as the Apple iPhone 17 ($780 on Amazon). Xteink adds an NFC chip, pogo pins for charging and a gyroscope so that pages can be turned by shaking the device. The display is not a touchscreen, instead buttons are used to navigate through the simple operating system, which is mainly used to manage books.
The display achieves a pixel density of 250 PPI, instead of the 220 PPI of the older X4. E-books can be stored on the 16 GB microSD memory card supplied. Books can either be copied directly to the microSD card or transferred wirelessly from a smartphone. The 650 mAh battery should provide a battery life of 10 to 14 days when reading for an average of one to three hours a day.
