New Citizen automatic watch launches with blue dial and Caliber 8210

Citizen has just listed the NJ0240-55L as part of its mechanical lineup - it's a simple automatic watch with a clean dial and everyday specs. The model is now live on the brand’s Vietnamese website with full specifications. However, as of writing, it is unclear if this will be available in more markets.
The NJ0240-55L runs on a Caliber 8210 automatic movement. This is a widely used in-house mechanical movement from Citizen, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour with a stated power reserve of around 40 hours. The case measures 40 mm in diameter and 11.6 mm in thickness, which means it's just within standard proportions for a daily wear watch. Both the case and bracelet are made of stainless steel, with a mineral crystal on the front. The watch also offers basic water resistance rated up to 50 meters. Other functional elements include a date display.
Citizen’s 82xx series movements, including the 8210, have been in circulation for years. They are generally known for durability and ease of servicing rather than accuracy or finishing. The design of the watch itself is more conservative than anything. The blue dial, Roman numerals at 12 and 6, and simple baton markers elsewhere imply this is for buyers looking for a straightforward analog watch without any unnecessary complications. Mineral crystal instead of sapphire and 50 m water resistance also shows that the company is focusing more on cost control here.
All-in-all, the NJ0240-55L looks to be a safe pick for someone just getting into mechanical watches or wanting a low-maintenance automatic for daily use. You can also check out the Citizen NJ0150-56E on Amazon.
