Limited edition Grand Seiko watch with patterned platinum case on the way

Grand Seiko has unveiled the Masterpiece Collection Manual-winding Spring Drive SBGZ011 watch at Watches and Wonders 2026. This limited edition model is said to be inspired by the Tateshina Waterfall in Japan, also described as a “mystic waterfall”.
The Grand Seiko SBGZ011 has a black and silver color scheme. At its centre is a hand-engraved dial featuring a series of delicate lines designed to look like flowing water. The pattern flows over onto the platinum bezel and casing, and the sleek markers are made of 14k white gold. Other design elements include a transparent screw case back where the serial number is engraved and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The watch measures 40.0 x 45.2 x 9.6 mm (~1.57 x 1.78 x 0.38 inches). Plus, users can choose between two straps: a black crocodile leather band or a KYOTO leather strap with metallic accents.
It is powered by a Spring Drive Caliber 9R02 with manual-winding and an approximate power reserve of 84 hours. According to Grand Seiko, the watch should remain accurate to within 15 seconds monthly, or around one second daily. The timepiece is also marketed as offering 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance and splash resistance.
Only 50 pieces of the limited edition Masterpiece Collection Manual-winding Spring Drive SBGZ011 watch have been produced. It is set to launch in North America and Europe in July 2026, with an RRP of $84,000/€86,000. The model is made by the Micro Artist Studio, based in the same region as the Tateshina Waterfall, as with other Spring Drive watches in the Grand Seiko Masterpiece Collection.
