Grand Seiko SBGY045 launches as new exclusive Spring Drive watch in the Elegance collection

Grand Seiko has officially confirmed the 2027 GS9 Club exclusive model as the SBGY045. This comes after months of anticipation that started when the project was first announced in 2025. The watch was chosen from three candidate colorways — the Minato-nezumi ("port gray") design won out, a soft blue-gray tone drawn from the traditional color palette of Japan's Edo period.
The GS9 Club exclusive model project has been running since spring 2025, and this is the first time the program has extended beyond Japan to GS9 Club members worldwide. The previous exclusive, the SBGW319 released in 2024, was limited to Japanese members and sold out within minutes of orders opening.
The SBGY045 sits in the Elegance Collection. It's built around a 38.5 mm stainless-steel case measuring 10.2 mm thick and 43.7 mm lug-to-lug. The flat dial uses layers of translucent gray paint finished with a thick clear coat polished to an enamel-like appearance. The only embellishment is a golden seconds hand, GS logo, and a gold Arabic numeral 9. Inside is the 9R31 manual-wind Spring Drive caliber. Two straps ship in the box — dark brown leather and a Minato blue option.
Production is capped at 600 units globally, with 300 allocated to Japan. Orders open via a lottery system running until the end of July, through each country's GS9 Club website. Delivery is expected in February 2027. Japanese pricing is set at ¥1,276,000 — approximately $8,700 at current exchange rates. International pricing hasn't been confirmed.
