Seiko is expanding its 5 Sports Field collection with two new GMT-equipped models aimed at travelers. The HDB001 and HDB002 pair compact 39.4mm cases with the brand's reliable 4R34 automatic movement and are set to launch in Japan this August.

Seiko has added two new GMT-equipped models to its 5 Sports series with the introduction of the HDB001 and HDB002. The new additions join the four Field series watches that arrived in May as more travel-friendly options in the revamped 5 Sports Field series and swap the compass bezel for a fixed 24-hour bezel for tracking a second time zone.

The new GMT-equipped HDB001 and HDB002 retain the familiar clean aesthetic of the standard Field series but arrive in a slightly more compact package. They measure 39.4mm across, down from the 41mm case used on the recently launched HDB006, HDB007, HDB008, and HDB009 models. The rotating compass bezel is gone too, replaced by a fixed stainless steel bezel engraved with a 24-hour scale that lets you track a second time zone.

The HDB001 comes with a forest green dial, while the HDB002 opts for a light cream hue. In both cases, large Arabic numerals, LumiBrite coating on the hands and hour markers, and a bright orange GMT hand keep the dial easy to read at a glance.

On the inside, the watch comes equipped with Seiko’s in-house Caliber 4R34 automatic movement, with support for automatic and manual winding. It offers up to 41 hours of power reserve, along with a hacking seconds function, and a dedicated 24-hour hand for tracking a second time zone. Like other movements in the 4R family, its rated daily accuracy is between +45 and -35 seconds.

Despite adding GMT functionality, the watches remain practical everyday options. They feature a curved Hardlex crystal, a 5-link stainless steel bracelet with a one-push tri-fold clasp and double-lock mechanism, a see-through screw-down caseback, 100 meters of water resistance, and magnetic resistance. At 147g, they're also slightly lighter than the bracelet-equipped HDB006 and HDB007, which tip the scale at 158g each.

The Seiko 5 Sports Field GMT HDB001 and HDB002 are set to launch in Japan this August for ¥61,600 (~$380). There's no word on global pricing & availability just yet, but it's safe to assume the watches will make their way to the US, UK, and other markets.
