Seiko has expanded its 5 Sports Field lineup with four new automatic models, adding a bidirectional compass bezel to the brand’s affordable adventure-ready lineup for the first time. The 41mm watches arrive in bracelet and nylon-strap variants, powered by the familiar 4R36 movement.

Seiko has just released four new automatic watches under its highly acclaimed 5 Sports Field series, featuring two monochrome models with solid metal bracelets and two lightweight nylon strap-equipped outdoor-focused watches.

Four rugged field watches with two distinct styles

All four watches are identical in terms of core features. They all sport a stainless steel case measuring 41mm in diameter and 13.2mm thick, complete with a durable Hardlex crystal, a see-through caseback, a solid 100m of water resistance, and a day and date window at the three o'clock position. Where they differ is in their colorways and strap options. While the HDB006 and HDB007 offer a classic look with a glossy black or white dial and a three-link stainless steel bracelet, the HDB008 and HDB009 opt for a sportier aesthetic, featuring a green dial with a black bezel and a brown dial with a matching bezel, respectively, paired with color-matched nylon straps.

The biggest addition here is the new bidirectional compass bezel—a first for the Seiko 5 Sports Field range. The bezel features diamond-pattern knurling for better grip and includes a lumed north marker for basic navigation. Additionally, Seiko has upgraded the dial legibility; all of the Arabic numeral indices are now generously coated with LumiBrite, a notable improvement over previous Field models that only featured luminous square hour markers.

Seiko’s nylon strap-equipped HDB008 and HDB009 lean into rugged outdoor styling with earthy tones and compass bezels.

The latest Sports 5 Field lineup is powered by Seiko's tried-and-tested in-house Caliber 4R36 automatic movement. Running at a 3Hz frequency, it features a second-hand stop function, manual winding capabilities, and stores approximately 41 hours of power reserve.
