Bamford Watch Department is quite popular when it comes to luxury watch customization. The company gained prominence thanks to its bespoke modifications for high-end timepieces, which first started with iconic Swiss brands. The company later went on to become the official customizer for LVMH group labels like TAG Heuer and Zenith. Now, Seiko 5 Sports has unveiled a new collaborative limited edition with Bamford - the Seiko 5 Sports x Bamford Limited Edition (SRPL95K1). The new launch will have a limited run of 2,025 units worldwide, priced at £400 (~$538), with distribution limited to official boutiques.
This limited edition model references the archive Seiko 5 Sports "SKX" range, and it sports a "Retro Future" theme throughout its design. The skeletonized dial has multiple bright (and unconventional) Bamford-inspired cues, most notably a teal dial accented by bold orange, blue, and white elements on both the face and the nylon strap. The hands, indexes, and bezel are treated with LumiBrite. There's a Bamford logo at the 6 o’clock position, on the case back, and the custom metal loop of the strap. The watch has a see-through case back with individual serial numbers.
Specifications include a 4R36 automatic movement with manual winding, yielding a 41-hour power reserve and using 24 jewels. The stainless steel case dimensions measure 42.5 mm in diameter by 13.4 mm thick, with a curved hardlex crystal, screw-down case back, and a water resistance rating of 10 bar. The 22 mm nylon strap rounds out the piece’s identity, and the total weight is listed at 93 grams. Magnetism resistance is rated to 4,800 A/m, and the dial supports day/date and stop-second functions, as per Seiko’s specifications.
