Seiko has revealed the upcoming Astron GPS Solar 2025 SSJ037 watch. Set for a global release, this analog timepiece is said to be “inspired by the interior of a futuristic spaceship”.
The Seiko SSJ037 has a patterned silver dial with stripes in three different directions. It features silver colored luminescent indexes and is surrounded by an aluminum bezel and titanium casing, measuring 42 x 12 mm (~1.7 x 0.5 inches). The watch is accompanied by a metal band in the same color, and the watch’s face is protected by sapphire crystal.
Powered by a Caliber 3X62, which is said to offer enhanced reception of solar signals. When sunlight is detected, it should connect twice daily to the GPS satellite network, adjusting the time accordingly. Without a GPS signal, the watch should remain accurate to within 15 seconds each month. The watch has three anolog hands for the hour, minute and second, and a simple date display. Plus, a smaller indicator dial can display the power reserve, and can also show if the in-flight mode is active.
The Seiko Astron GPS Solar 2025 SSJ037 watch will be released in October 2025. There will be 1,500 pieces of this limited edition timepiece, retailing for $2,400/£2,100/€2,500 in various markets worldwide.
