Seiko has unveiled two new Astron GPS Solar 2025 Limited Edition watches, which are launching globally: the SSH183J1 and the SSH185J1. The company suggests that this model “expresses the near future”, with the horizontal pattern on the dial inspired by the speed of light.
The SSH183J1 has a silver dial, surrounded by a black ceramic bezel. The bracelet has a matching silvery colored titanium base with a black ceramic central row. Plus, there are neon orange accents, including the lower layer of the bezel. The SSH185J1 has a similar design, though with a black face and black-coated titanium casing and bracelet, with a corresponding white ceramic bezel and central strap row. Plus, it has light green accents on the dial and pushers.
Both of these Astron watches use the caliber 5X83, a GPS Solar movement. This is said to remain accurate within 15 seconds each month when it does not receive a GPS signal. Features include support for world time in 38 cities, power save and overcharge prevention functions, and a stopwatch. Plus, there is a basic date display, and dials indicating the day of the week and the time in a second time zone. These timepieces are water resistant to 10 bar, and measure 43.4 x 13.4 mm (~1.7 x 0.5 inches)
The Seiko Astron SSH183 will retail for $2,900/£2,550, while the Astron SSH185 will be more expensive at $3,100/£2,700. Each model is limited to 1,200 pieces globally and scheduled for release in October 2025.
