Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Motoring edition launches as a 2,700-piece limited run
Seiko has announced a new limited-edition Prospex Speedtimer, designed exclusively for the European market. The watch, reference SSC959P1, will be produced in just 2,700 units and priced at £730 (~$983), with availability beginning in November 2025.
The Motoring edition draws inspiration from European classic cars. It has a cream dial featuring a sunray pattern under curved sapphire glass. Three black subdials are present for contrast. The whole layout is quite reminiscent of the popular "Panda" Speedtimer layout seen on earlier models such as the SSC813. To further cement its vintage automotive theme, Seiko has paired the steel bracelet with an additional light brown perforated leather strap, which resembles the interiors of heritage sports cars.
Moving past the design and aesthetics, the watch runs on Seiko’s V192 solar-powered chronograph movement, with an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month and a six-month power reserve when fully charged. It can be charged by natural or artificial light and carries a 100-meter water resistance rating. Functionality includes a chronograph measuring up to 60 minutes in 1/5-second increments, a 24-hour hand, date display, small seconds, and a power reserve indicator.
The case measures 39mm in diameter, 13.3mm thick, with a lug width of 20mm and total case length of 45.5mm. The stainless steel body is topped with a curved sapphire crystal treated with inner anti-reflective coating. Each piece is individually numbered, with the case back engraved "Limited Edition."
