Seiko just dropped something that stands out in a sea of look-alike releases: the new Power Design Project Collection 1. It's a tribute to the 1984 Tisse - an offbeat design from Japan, which is famous for its bead-like bracelet and laid-back fit. Back then, the Tisse was a design outlier for being a watch you could wear loose, almost like jewelry, not just a "ladies" model boxed in by tradition.
Fast-forward to 2025, and Seiko has reinvented this concept for everyone. There are three new models in the lineup - SSEH021 in silver, SSEH023 in black, and SSEH024 in gold. Each piece has that quirky bead bracelet, but with modern touches: stainless-steel cases with hard coatings, a sleek 20.2mm diameter, splash resistance, magnetic resistance up to 4,800 A/m, and the quartz Caliber 4N30 movement. You’ll get around three years of battery life and a crystal-clear Hardlex glass. The fit is relaxed, designed to close the gap between accessory and timepiece, since you can wear it however you want.
Seiko clearly isn’t fussed about labeling these as "men's" or "women's" watches. The whole point here seems to be, it's your choice. You can wear it as a bracelet, accessory, or just a good-looking watch if it suits your vibe. It’s limited, a bit unconventional, and clearly not trying to blend in with classic designs.
There doesn’t appear to be official US pricing yet for the Seiko Power Design Project Collection 1. However, given the AUD prices (575 and 650 AUD) and typical Seiko pricing strategies, the US retail prices will likely be around $400-$450 for the silver model and approximately $450-$500 for the black and gold models once available later in 2025. Availability is expected at Seiko boutiques and select official retailers worldwide from December 2025.
