More hi-res images of Casio’s upcoming limited edition MRG-B2000KT watch have surfaced, giving us an in-depth look at the intricate artistry and engineering of this premium G-Shock model. Beyond what previous leaks offered, the new visuals reveal the painstaking handcrafting and lavish detail that practically define this timepiece.
Easily, the highlight of the MRG-B2000KT’s design is its handcrafted bezel - the work of renowned metal artist Masao Kobayashi. Each bezel is uniquely engraved with a phoenix motif, with detailed feathers and wing contours that represent rebirth and good fortune in various cultures, especially Japanese mythology where the "Ho-Oh" phoenix stands for peace and wisdom. Reportedly, every one of the 800 units will feature a one-of-a-kind bezel pattern, meaning no two watches are alike. The crafting process involves historic Japanese techniques, including "sisai-bori" for high-relief metal engraving. The result is a bezel that looks like the hand guard of a katana sword with an artisanal finish.
High-res closeups show that emerald-green accents dot the bezel and dial. The watch’s titanium case also receives deep tempering and a durable bronze DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating, improving scratch resistance and the overall design appeal of the watch. We also get a clearer look at the flexible fluororubber strap, double-textured for water resistance and comfort. The clasp and metal components - buttons, crown, and keepers - are all protected by DLC finishes to minimize wear and tear. The watch will come in a special box matching the "feather" motif. The illuminated dial and sapphire crystal with dual anti-reflective coating make the watch look even more luxurious.
As per past reports, the MRG-B2000KT will feature Bluetooth, solar charging, Multiband 6 radio-sync, and Super Illuminator backlight. Standard G-Shock functions like dual time, stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, calendar, and power-saving mode are all present.
Since we already have our eyes on high-quality renders, an official announcement should be just around the corner. The Casio MRG-B2000KT is expected to be priced above $5,000, going by estimates from Casioblog.
