Casio's collab watches with pro surfer Kania Igarashi are always well-received, and it's the same with the newer 2024 G-Shock G-LIDE Kanoa Igarashi GLX5600KB-1 - which is currently available at a reduced price of $127.41, down from its typical $160 list price. The model is a great buy right now, because of its rugged build, environmental considerations, and surfer-specific features - not to mention the ion-plated wire frame, which is a hot feature in other G-Shocks as well.
This watch has a stealth black look, with a case and band using a mix of jet-black and various shades of black resin. The bezel and band are made from bio-based resin and come with mixed-color molding that creates a pattern very reminiscent of ocean waves. As mentioned earlier, there's a metal wire frame fitted to the watch face to provide extra protection against impacts, and the watch weighs in at 53 grams with a case size of approximately 46.7 × 43.2 × 12.7 mm.
The GLX5600KB-1 is made for use in the water, which is evident by the inclusion of 200-meter water resistance and a durable, shock-resistant structure. Furthermore, it provides a tide graph, high/low tide and moon phase data, and sunrise/sunset info. These details are extremely valued by surfers for timing sessions and monitoring surf conditions. Other standard functions include a countdown timer, world time, perpetual calendar, three multi-function alarms (with snooze), auto EL backlight, and a mineral glass display. The model also includes Igarashi's signature at the top of the face and on the case back, with his championship tour surfer number "50" on the band.
