New Seiko 5 Sports limited-edition collab automatic watch surfaces in first hands-on video

The Seiko 5 Sports SRPM09 HUF Limited Edition has surfaced in first hands-on shots after it launched earlier this month in February. It showcases the "Time Sonar" inspired translucent green dial in all its glory.
The newly spotted hands-on images, thanks to @SeikoLeaks on YouTube, give us a practical look at how the "HUF Green" acetate dial interacts with light. As expected, there is a high degree of transparency that exposes the mechanical day and date wheels beneath the surface. The dial execution, inspired by the 1970s "Time Sonar," creates a layered, three-dimensional effect which isn't normally seen in the entry-level Seiko 5 line. While promotional renders often sanitize these textures, the physical shots reveal a unique industrial character, with the black horizontal "Automatic" bar and "huf" logo at 6 o'clock appearing to float above the green disk.
The 39.4 mm stainless-steel case gets the brushed finish, quite characteristic of the "Field" series. Here, it is paired here with a three-link oyster-style bracelet. The hands-on perspective gives a solid idea of how the watch's 48.1 mm lug-to-lug distance looks in a hand. A few on-wrist shots would've helped more, but regardless, the next point of attention is undoubtedly the orange-tipped seconds hand. It serves as the primary high-visibility element, getting you sharp contrast against the lime-green hue.
As a refresher, the watch uses the Caliber 4R36, a standard automatic movement with a 41-hour power reserve and 21,600 vph. This is visible through a green-tinted exhibition case back featuring a custom San Francisco graphic, although there's no case back shown in the video (see below). Limited to 7,000 pieces globally - with only 1,000 units allocated to Japan under reference SBSA323 - the model is priced at approximately $450 (EUR 410) and is scheduled for a March 2026 release.
