New Seiko Prospex x Shohei Ohtani limited-edition automatic watches launch with 300 m water resistance and 6R55 movement

Seiko Watch Corporation has announced two brand-new limited-edition models under its Prospex line to celebrate Shohei Ohtani’s achievements. The watches are based on the Diver’s 1965 Heritage platform and will go on sale in Japan on April 24, 2026.
The two references, SBDC222 and SBDC224, are each limited to 1,700 pieces. Both are priced at ¥286,000 (tax included), which roughly translates to $1,836, and they also share the same core specifications. The primary difference here is dial color.
The design is based on Los Angeles Dodgers’ away uniform colors - grey and blue with gold accents. Gold is applied to the bezel edge, crown, hands, and indexes, as a homage to the special gold MLB logo patch worn by select award-winning players, including MVP recipients. The bezel insert is blue, while one variant features a silver-toned dial and the other a deep blue dial.

Both models use a stainless-steel case and bracelet treated with Seiko’s DiaShield coating for scratch resistance. Case diameter measures 40 mm, with a thickness of 13 mm. A curved sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating protects the dial. Water resistance is rated at 300 meters for air diving use.
Powering the watches is Seiko’s in-house automatic Caliber 6R55. The movement brings approximately 72 hours of power reserve, operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (6 beats per second), and contains 24 jewels. Stated accuracy is +25 to -15 seconds per day under standard temperature conditions when worn.
However, you can find more limited-edition details beyond the dial. Ohtani’s jersey number "17" is marked on the crown, and his signature is present on the bracelet clasp. The caseback is engraved with "Shohei Ohtani Limited Edition" along with the individual serial number. Buyers will also get a special presentation box bearing Ohtani's signature.
