Nintendo Switch 2 gets a price hike

The ongoing global memory crisis has already forced several manufacturers to increase prices for existing products, while some companies have even delayed future hardware launches because of higher production costs. Now, Nintendo is the latest company making new pricing changes across its hardware lineup.
Nintendo Switch 2 price hike announced
The biggest changes are happening in Japan first. Starting May 25, 2026, Nintendo will raise the price of the Japanese-language Switch 2 from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980, marking an increase of ¥10,000. However, Nintendo noted that the multi-language Switch 2 model sold through My Nintendo Store will keep its current price for now.
The older Switch consoles are also becoming more expensive in Japan. The Nintendo Switch OLED model will increase from ¥37,980 to ¥47,980. The standard Nintendo Switch is going from ¥32,978 to ¥43,980, while the Nintendo Switch Lite will rise from ¥21,978 to ¥29,980.
Nintendo also confirmed price hikes for the Switch 2 in the United States, Canada, and Europe. In the United States, the price will increase from $449.99 to $499.99 starting September 1, 2026. Canadian buyers will see the console rise from $629.99 to $679.99. In Europe, the price on My Nintendo Store will move from €469.99 to €499.99.
The price increases are also affecting Nintendo Switch Online in Japan. Beginning July 1, 2026, subscription prices for the service will go up across nearly every plan. The standard individual 12-month membership will increase from ¥2,400 to ¥3,000, while the family plan will rise from ¥4,500 to ¥5,800.
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriptions are also becoming more expensive. The individual yearly membership will move from ¥4,900 to ¥5,900, while the family plan will jump from ¥8,900 to ¥9,900.
