Grand Seiko SBGE317 launches as new exclusive Spring Drive GMT with black zirconia ceramic bezel

Grand Seiko's annual Isetan Shinjuku exclusive has become one of the more iconic store-limited releases on the Japanese watch calendar, and the 2026 edition doesn't disappoint either. The brand has now unveiled the SBGE317 — a Sport Collection Spring Drive GMT that takes Shinjuku itself as its design subject, rather than the natural landscapes Grand Seiko is renowned for.
Last year's Isetan model, the SBGA515, was inspired by the colors of a Shinjuku dusk. This one captures the city in full daylight — specifically the geometric grid of windows lining its skyscraper facades, and the clear blue sky reflected across them. What we see is an ice blue dial with a precise, repeating geometric pattern and a glossy metallic finish that looks different depending on how light hits it. A black zirconia ceramic bezel frames the whole thing. A red GMT hand and red seconds hand lend sharp contrast against the blue. All the colors complement each other well.
Inside is the 9R66 Spring Drive GMT caliber — Grand Seiko's proprietary movement that brings a mainspring together with a quartz regulator for accuracy rated at ±15 seconds per month, with a 72-hour power reserve. The stainless-steel case measures 40.5 mm in diameter, 14.7 mm thick, and 48.7 mm lug-to-lug, with 20-bar water resistance and a steel bracelet.
Production is capped at just 60 pieces, each engraved "1 OF 60" on the solid case back alongside Grand Seiko's lion crest. Pricing is set at ¥979,000, which converts to around $6,700 at current rates. The watch goes on sale November 7, 2026, exclusively at Isetan Shinjuku. Those wanting an early look can visit the "Spirit of Japanese Craftsmanship" event at the store's main building from July 15–21, where pre-orders will also open.
