Grand Seiko launches four new Hi-beat Evolution 9 watches with 9SA5 caliber
Grand Seiko has announced four new Hi-Beat Evolution 9 models, all scheduled for an October 2026 release. The lineup, which includes SLGH029, SLGH031, SLGH033, and SLGH035 models, updates one of the brand's most recognizable collections with new dial treatments, materials, and a revised bracelet with a three-step micro-adjustment clasp that many have been asking for.
Each model is built around the same 40 mm case at 11.7 mm thick, with a 47 mm lug-to-lug, a box-shaped sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating, and a see-through screw case back. All four run the 9SA5 caliber — Grand Seiko's in-house Hi-Beat movement beating at 36,000 vph via the Dual Impulse Escapement. Twin barrels deliver an 80-hour power reserve and a daily accuracy of +5/-3 seconds.
The four watches divide across two materials. The SLGH029 is the only one that's a little different here — it's built in High-Intensity Titanium, lighter and more scratch-resistant than standard titanium, with a black dial inspired by white birch forests outside the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi at night. It's also the only model with an allergy-safe metal designation.
The other three are all in Ever-Brilliant Steel. It's a proprietary stainless alloy that looks brighter than conventional steel. The SLGH031 takes the White Birch dial in silver, the SLGH033 goes with deep green representing the same birch forests in full sunlight. The SLGH035 utilizes a textured light blue dial, which is inspired from the flowing water of the Genbi Valley in Iwate Prefecture, where Grand Seiko's mechanical watches are made.
The titanium SLGH029 is priced at €11,700, while the three Ever-Brilliant Steel models come in at €10,400 each. US pricing hasn't been confirmed yet. All four are due in October 2026.
