New Grand Seiko watch with slim movement and deep blue dial revealed

The Grand Seiko Elegance Collection Hand-winding Spring Drive SBGY043 watch has been unveiled. This is part of a wider range of timepieces which have been revealed at the Watches and Wonders 2026 event.

Grand Seiko’s SBGY043 is described by the brand as a classic watch with an Iwao Blue dial. Inspired by the Japanese indigo dyeing technique known as katsuiro, it features an engraved rock (Iwao) pattern. The striking dial is surrounded by silver tone stainless steel casing, measuring 38.5 x 43.7 x 10.2 mm (~1.52 x 1.72 x 0.40 inches), and protected by a sapphire crystal. It is accompanied by a silver colored bracelet with rounded links, mirroring the curved case.

The SBGY043 is powered by Grand Seiko’s Caliber 9R31, a slim movement with a Dual Spring Barrel and a 72 hour power reserve. Its accuracy is listed as 15 seconds monthly, or one second daily. Plus, this watch is splash resistant and magnetic resistant to 4,800 A/m. In June 2026, Grand Seiko will release the Elegance Collection Hand-winding Spring Drive SBGY043 watch. It is set to retail for $9,800 in the US and €10,000 in the EU.
