New Xiaomi air fryer with sous vide feature launching globally

The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Steam Air Fryer 7L is launching globally. This new kitchen appliance shares many similarities with the Xiaomi Mijia Smart Air Fryer Pro Steam & Roast Version 6.5L, which was recently released in China.
As its name suggests, the new Mijia Smart Steam Air Fryer is a multifunctional device. According to Xiaomi, it offers ten cooking functions, like steaming, fermenting, dehydrating, defrosting and reheating. The company also claims that you can use the device for sous vide cooking, a method which typically uses a water bath; while Xiaomi does not state explicitly how this would be achieved, it may be that users could use the water tank for this purpose.
Xiaomi’s Mijia Smart Steam Air Fryer 7L covers a temperature range of 40 to 230°C (~104 to 446°F). For steaming, there is a 1.5 L water tank, and the machine can generate high steam temperatures of up to 130°C (~266°F). The steam function could also be helpful when reheating breads, pastries or pizzas. Plus, there is a hybrid fry and steam mode, combining 360° hot air circulation with steam for tender meat with a crispy exterior. With support for HyperOS Connect, you can remotely manage the air fryer via the Xiaomi Home app; it is also compatible with Google Home. Through the brand’s app, you can also access a range of recipes which are designed for the air fryer.
It is unclear when the Xiaomi Mijia Smart Steam Air Fryer 7L will be released in countries worldwide. Should it launch in Europe, it will join older models like the Smart Air Fryer 6.5L (curr. €89.99 at Mi Store DE).
