Xiaomi's new smart home camera packs 9x zoom, dual sensors and premium features

Xiaomi has further expanded its lineup of smart security cameras with the launch of the Smart Camera C701 Pro. While the standard C701 has been available for some time, the company has yet to reveal any details regarding the international pricing and availability of the Pro model. The C701 Pro represents a significant upgrade over the non-Pro model. For instance, it introduces a second image sensor, combining an 8 MP main camera with a 5 MP zoom camera. According to Xiaomi, the device boasts 9x hybrid zoom, ensuring that even distant objects appear clear and recognizable.
The camera features two sensors housed inside a spherical module that can rotate on its axis and tilt 180°. Thanks to automatic subject tracking, the camera body doesn’t need to be manually repositioned. A new, upgraded motor also enables faster rotation and helps the camera keep up with fast-moving subjects in living spaces, such as pets.
The Xiaomi C701 Pro is fitted with both a microphone and a speaker. Besides detecting crying babies, the camera can identify human presence and abnormal noises (such as breaking glass) with the help of AI. Gesture control is supported, allowing users to adjust the volume of video calls, for example. The device offers dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity and requires a wired power connection, as it lacks a built-in battery. Various storage options are supported, including microSD cards.
