iPhone 20th anniversary edition with four curved edges still in development for 2027

Apple is expected to bring something special for its 20th anniversary in 2027. It is said to be working on an iPhone that will feature a never before seen design with no bezels, maximizing the screen real-estate. There’s even talks of the device having no buttons and possibly a hidden selfie camera. The latest leak suggest that plans for such a device are still in place, despite the challenges with under-display Face ID.
The information comes courtesy of prolific leaker Digital Chat Station who claims that Apple is working towards minimizing the dynamic island for future iPhone models, and is also trying to implement an under-display camera with Face ID. These developments have been hinted at previously as well. Furthermore, the leaker states that the company is testing a commemorative edition iPhone that features an under-display camera and four curved edges.
This would result in an uninterrupted glass front for a phone that has a selfie camera, but it’s hidden behind the screen. Previous attempts by other manufacturers on an under-display selfie camera have not been promising. But, Apple seems to be dedicated to find a solution with fewer compromises.
For the iPhone 18 series coming this year, the Cupertino giant is expected to reduce the size of the dynamic island but will not be able to completely eliminate it. So, the next iPhone will come with minor visual upgrades over the current generation, but the 20th anniversary special edition model for 2027 will be very different from the traditional design.
