iPhone 20 curved OLED display design leak: Samsung to make Steve Jobs’ dream a reality soon

To mark the device's 20th anniversary, Apple is reportedly planning a significant display overhaul for the 2027 "iPhone 20" or "iPhone XX".
According to supply chain leaks from China, Apple is collaborating with Samsung to develop an "equal-depth quad-curved" panel. Unlike the dramatic "waterfall" edges of past Samsung phones, this micro-curved design aims for a bezel-less aesthetic that maintains image integrity while improving hand-feel and swipe gestures.
Are micro-curved panels something new? No, not at all. Many Android phones utilize this display tech, where the glass is curved around all four sides but the panel itself is flat - giving you the best of both worlds.

If you want to get nerdy, the display is expected to transition to COE (Color Filter on Encapsulation) technology. By removing the traditional polarizer layer (a "pol-less" design) Apple can produce a significantly thinner and brighter screen with reduced power consumption. To combat the loss of a polarizer, Apple will likely utilize advanced anti-reflective coatings and a "crater-shaped" light diffusion layer for uniform brightness.
While the goal remains a hole-less, all-glass slab, the integration of under-display Face ID and camera tech remains the final hurdle for the 2027 flagship.
If the iPhone X naming strategy is anything to go by, the 2027 flagship iPhone might be called the "iPhone XX". That said, there’s a new mayor in Cupertino town, John Ternus, and he might decide to call it the “iPhone 20”. Either way, we’ll never find out if the 20th anniversary iPhone’s name was decided by Tim Cook or not.
