Garmin has issued a new update to multiple mid-range smartwatches. The second of its kind so far, Beta 17.19 adds to the two-dozen or so changes that Garmin had already rolled out in its first v17.xx update for the Venu 4 and Vivoactive 6.

Garmin has issued a new beta update for two of its recent mid-range smartwatches. Rolling out as Beta 17.19, the new update is the second that the company has issued to the Venu 4 and Vivoactive 6 during this beta development round. Based on past performance, at least another 2-3 beta updates will arrive before Garmin transitions v17.xx development to its stable software branch.

As far as we can tell, Beta 17.19 contains eight shared changes for the Venu 4 and Vivoactive 6 (curr. $299 on Amazon). For instance, Garmin claims to have resolved an issue that caused the turn arrow to be missing when navigating a course. Additionally, the new update should improve UI responsiveness when starting a timer.

The Venu 4 has received three specific changes of its own, too. On the one hand, Beta 17.19 updates the smartwatch's mute settings so that only persist during a current phone call but not afterwards. On the other hand, Garmin has fixed a bug that prevented the Venu 4 from accepting an incoming call and another bug that broke back and down key functionality when using the bouldering and indoor climb activities. Please see the changelog below for more details.

  • Adds support for Approach CT1 club sensors.
  • Allows LiveTrack to be enabled automatically on a per activity type basis.
