Garmin has released a new update for multiple of its recent mid-range smartwatches. Available globally, the firmware introduces almost a dozen improvements for the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970, including one that improves LiveTrack functionality.

Garmin has released a new update for the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 (curr. $749 on Amazon). To recap, the company started a new round of beta development earlier this month for the pair. While Beta Version 17.16 introduced over 25 improvements for the pair, its successor contains less than half that.

Still, the 11 changes that Garmin has packaged with Beta Version 17.19 should improve the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 in various areas. For instance, the company claims to have improved responsiveness when starting a timer. Additionally, the new update is said to resolve several unspecified issues that could cause either smartwatch to reset when running older firmware.

Moreover, Beta Version 17.19 adds support for Garmin's Approach CT1 club sensors and prevents automatic track detection during trail run activities. Also, the new update should improve LiveTrack by allowing the feature to be automatically per activity rather than on a whole device basis.

  • Adds support for Approach CT1 club sensors.
  • Allows LiveTrack to be enabled automatically on a per activity type basis.
  • Fixes a possible issue where the back and down key would not work for indoor climb and bouldering activities.
  • Fixes an issue that could cause the turn arrow to be missing when navigating a course.
  • Fixes an issue that could result in not being able to accept an incoming call on the watch.
  • Fixes other minor bugs.
  • Fixes send off time not vibrating during swim workouts.
  • Fixes various issues that could cause the device to reset.
  • Improves responsiveness when starting the timer.
  • Prevents automatic track detection during trail run activities.
  • Updates mute setting to only persist for the current phone call.
