Apple's future is full of new designs from the iPhone Fold, the iPhone 20 to the iPhone Flip

It is always exciting to look into Apple's distant future, even though few people outside of Tim Cook and his inner team actually know about the plans for 2026 and beyond. Certain analyst firms predict that Apple will probably switch to the iPhone 20 name for the anniversary iPhone expected in 2027, following the iPhone 18 generation in 2026 and early 2027. iPhone Fold with under-display camera and Face ID

A South Korean blogger makes some bold claims about the supposed features of the first iPhone Fold, planned for 2026, although there have been recent reports of possible delays. The book-like foldable in the style of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will purportedly offer an LTPO OLED panel in iPad Mini format and be particularly resistant to creasing. That a hole-free camera and Face ID solution will also be implemented on the iPhone Fold is also a new development, which other analysts recently ruled out for the iPhone 18 generation.

2028: First iPhone flip phone on the agenda

Things could get exciting again in the year following the iPhone's 20th anniversary, as Apple apparently intends to jump on the clamshell bandwagon and release the first iPhone in flip-phone format. Possibly called the iPhone Flip, the vertically foldable iPhone is intended to be a particularly compact and lightweight fashion accessory, and perhaps a successor to Apple's failing iPhone Air.

The external display will primarily be used for incoming notifications and status messages, and Apple is also expected to opt for a quadruple-curved housing design here. All these predictions should be viewed with a healthy dose of skepticism. Even if the information is currently correct, a lot can still change in the coming months and years.
