Apple recently released a new MacBook Pro 14 with the latest Apple M5 SoC, and it’s great. We found out in our review that the laptop is fast, robust, boasts an excellent display, and has good battery life. So, it is an incredible option for folks who need lots of power in a portable form factor.

However, the 2025 Apple MacBook Pro 14 still carries an “Apple tax”. So, it is quite expensive at close to $1,600 for just 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. For most average users, this price is hard to swallow. This is where the smaller 2025 MacBook Air 13 with the Apple M4 SoC comes in.

You can now get the MB Air 13 with the M4 SoC, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage for just $999 on Amazon. According to the laptop’s price history on camelcamelcamel, the latest $200 discount has brought the MacBook Air 13 M4 to its lowest price ever.

MacBook Air 13 M4 (2025) is a great option for almost everyone

When we reviewed the MacBook Air 13 M4 back in April, we remarked that Apple’s entry-level portable machine “makes the competition look old”. For the most part, this remains true.

For instance, the Apple MacBook Air 13 M4 is still plenty fast, as the M4 SoC is one of the fastest CPUs on the market when it comes to single-core performance. It is only 15% slower than the latest M5, according to our testing. So, even though we have the new Intel Panther Lake CPUs coming with good CPU and GPU performance improvements, the Apple M4 remains an outstanding chip.

Similarly, the 13.6-inch, 2560 x 1664 IPS panel is also quite good. It is color-accurate, almost covers sRGB/DCI-P3, and can shoot 500 nits of brightness on average. Sadly, Apple refuses to offer high-refresh-rate panels in its more affordable MacBooks, so the MacBook Air 13 M4 is still stuck with a 60 Hz display.

Finally, the MacBook Air 13 M4 is absolutely quiet and can last over 16 hours when using the laptop for lighter tasks like web browsing.

All in all, the M4-powered Apple MacBook Air 13" is one of the best affordable, everyday machines on the market. At $999, few notebooks can come close to offering the same value.
