Huawei unveils smartwatch with 2,500-nit display, 10-day battery, and design inspired by Apple Watch

It’s probably no coincidence that the brand-new Huawei Qingyun H3550 features a design reminiscent of the Apple Watch Series 11 ($279 on Amazon), from the heavily rounded rectangular case to the placement of the digital crown and the side button. The 9.5-millimeter-thick smartwatch is made of aluminum, and the case is waterproof up to 5 ATM, so the watch can even be worn while swimming.
Huawei has equipped the device with a 1.82-inch AMOLED display that features a resolution of 480 x 408 pixels and an impressive brightness of 2,500 nits, ensuring the display remains readable even in direct sunlight during an outdoor workout. The heart rate sensor consists of six LEDs and six photodiodes, designed to collect data with exceptional precision. The smartwatch can also measure blood oxygen saturation and track sleep.
The smartwatch features a workout coach that looks like a cartoon panda and is designed primarily to demonstrate exercises you can do at your desk without any preparation. Thanks to a GPS module, the Huawei Qingyun H3550 can track the distance covered while cycling and running even without a smartphone. An NFC chip enables contactless payments and allows the smartwatch to be used as a digital key. Huawei claims a battery life of ten days in power-saving mode, seven days with normal use, or four days with the always-on display active.
Pricing and availability
Huawei has not yet confirmed details regarding the price and availability of the Qingyun H3550 smartwatch. The watch is specifically targeted at business customers, who, among other things, can personalize the packaging, the logo displayed when the watch is turned on, the watch faces, and the included straps when the smartwatch is purchased for employees.
