Garmin Enduro 4: Certification hints at new flagship smartwatch

Garmin has certified a smartwatch with the model number A05216 with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The listed specs suggest that this is a flagship smartwatch. While the Garmin Fenix 9 would be a possible candidate, the5krunner believes that the certified smartwatch is the Garmin Enduro 4, since, on the one hand, only one model was certified, and, on the other hand, references to the Enduro 4 recently were found in the Garmin Connect app.
The photos of the smartwatch included in the certification will remain under wraps until mid-November, a clear indication that Garmin is planning a launch within the next five months. The FCC certification confirms that the smartwatch supports Wi-Fi 5 (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, and GPS, and that the watch can be used at temperatures ranging from –20 °C to +50 °C.
The watch uses a proprietary charging cable and features a new “inverted-F” GPS antenna. As always, such early leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, as it cannot yet be independently verified that the certified model is indeed the Garmin Enduro 4. Since the Garmin Enduro 3 ($749 on Amazon) is already over two years old, it’s about time for a successor model. Since the Enduro 3 is based on the Garmin Fenix 8, it remains to be seen whether the Enduro 4 will be developed based on the Fenix 8 Pro with satellite connectivity or on the Fenix 9, which is not yet available.
