A very early leak provides us with a very detailed information about the successor to one of this years best camera flagships, which is expected to launch in nine months at the earliest. As it stands, one of the exclusive features of the Oppo Find X9 Ultra will get even better next year.

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra is, next to the Vivo X300 Ultra, one of the best camera-focused flagships of the year, but despite some similarities it prioritizes different aspects of its Hasselblad camera system. For example, it uniquely offers a 10x optical zoom, a feature Samsung abandoned with the Galaxy S24 Ultra in 2024. Admittedly, the 10x telephoto camera on the Oppo Find X9 Ultra won't deliver the same quality as the 1/1.28-inch 3x telephoto camera, especially in low light. The sensor size—at 1/2.75 inches—is a bit too small for that.

But that is exactly where the successor could see targeted improvements, as the usually very reliable leaker Digital Chat Station hinted quite specifically on Weibo today, June 23, 2026. As always, such early rumors should be treated with quite the amount of salt, as they are based on very early prototypes that may not necessarily make it into mass production with these exact same specifications.

According to the leaker, however, the 50-megapixel sensor behind the 230mm telephoto camera in the Oppo Find X10 Ultra will be upgraded to a 1/1.95-inch sensor, which should allow for significantly higher image quality, particularly at night. Exactly which sensor will be used here has not yet been revealed, but according to the leaker's comment, it will not be the Sony LYT-600. It is not yet known what other improvements Oppo is planning for its 2027 Hasselblad camera flagship. At least development seems to be proceeding according to plan—quite unlike the Xiaomi 18 Ultra, unfortunately.
