Oppo K15 launches July 24 in China with active cooling fan and 8000mAh battery

Oppo confirms the standard K15 will launch in China on July 24, following the K15 Pro and K15 Pro+ that debuted in April. According to Digital Chat Station, the base model uses a 6.59-inch, 2760 x 1256 LTPS flat display, supplied by Tianma and the Dimensity 7360 chipset, a downgrade from the Pro series' silicon. At 8.27mm thick and 205g, the phone has a metal middle frame, and will come in black and white colorways.
Battery and cameras
The phone packs an 8000mAh battery with 80W wired charging, plus a built-in active cooling fan carried over from the Pro lineup. Camera hardware includes a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP front camera, alongside a short-focus optical fingerprint sensor and an RGB breathing light on the rear. Satellite navigation options include dual-frequency GPS and triple-frequency BeiDou, among other mandatory standards like Glonass and Galileo.
Confusing chipset choice
While camera hardware and build materials look solid for the segment, the Dimensity 7360 is a curious pairing with the active cooling fan. The chip isn't thermally demanding enough to need active cooling, unlike the Pro's Dimensity 8500 Super, which makes the fan read more as inherited branding from the Pro series than a functional necessity on the base model. The choice may also reflect cost pressure, with ongoing DRAM shortages and rising chip prices pushing OEMs toward cheaper SoCs while keeping premium-feeling extras like the fan and RGB lighting to preserve the phone's positioning.
Availability
The K15 is already listed for preorder on JD.com, though pricing has not yet been disclosed. Full pricing and availability details are expected to be disclosed July 24.
