Sony unveils transparent earbuds with detachable cable for $119

The Sony IER-M500 was designed specifically for musicians looking for wired earbuds for rehearsals and live performances. These in-ear earbuds promise particularly effective passive noise isolation, neutral sound, and a high level of comfort. Thanks to the cable that runs behind the ear, the earbuds are designed to stay securely in place even if the cable is accidentally pulled.
The cable can be replaced if it becomes damaged or if the included 1.6-meter cable with a 3.5 mm mini-jack doesn’t fit your setup. Sony uses dynamic drivers with a diameter of 5 millimeters, which are said to offer a sensitivity of 103 dB/mW, an impedance of 16 ohms, and a frequency range from 10 Hz to 40 kHz. The earbuds are designed to be particularly durable and to withstand even demanding concerts, sweat, and moisture.
The Sony IER-M500 features a transparent plastic housing, available in white, black, or blue and red. Convenient: With the latter color option, the left earbud is blue and the right one is red, so you can tell which earbud goes in which ear by the color rather than just by the small label on the inside. 35 percent of the plastic used is recycled to reduce the environmental impact.
