Razer Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed get Xbox and PlayStation editions

The Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed launched in April as one of two new pairs of gaming earbuds from Razer. Now a few months later, Razer has announced PlayStation and Xbox editions of the earbuds.

Both variants of the Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed have been designed to match their respective platforms. The earbuds and charging case of the PlayStation edition are white just like the PlayStation 5. Also, the Razer logo on the earbuds is blue and there's a PlayStation logo on the charging case. However, the inside of the case is black just like that of the standard edition.

On the other hand, the Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed Xbox Edition looks just like the standard edition with its black charging case, black earbuds, and green Razer logo. However, instead of a black interior, the charging case is Xbox green.

According to their specs and features, there are several similarities and a few differences. For starters, both versions of the earbuds connect to their respective consoles using the Hyperspeed case, which then allows users for a 2.4GHz wireless connection. There's also Bluetooth 5.3, if you have a Bluetooth adapter.

The Razer Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed PlayStation and Xbox editions both have a battery life of up to 10 hours on a single charge (up to 8 hours when connected to the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X) and a total of 35 hours with the charging case. The earbuds are rated IPX4 for water resistance, which means they will survive accidental spills and sweat.

There's also surround sound, albeit powered by different technologies. For the PlayStation edition, the earbuds use 3D audio for spatial audio, while the Xbox version uses Windows Sonic for spatial audio. Both versions work with PCs too and use THX Spatial Audio for 7.1 surround sound.

The Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed for PlayStation and the Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed for Xbox both support touch controls, a LED indicator on the charging case, and have support for PC, Android, Mac, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and other handhelds.

Razer says the Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed for PlayStation and the Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed for Xbox cost $99.99, the same price tag as the standard version. This makes them significantly cheaper than PlayStation's Pulse Explore wireless earbuds which cost $199.
