PlayStation delays FlexStrike wireless fight stick; Amazon adds temporary release date

PlayStation first announced the FlexStrike wireless fight stick in June 2025, although it was still referred to as Project Defiant then. In July of the same year, it revealed the official name alongside a 2026 release timeframe. After a few public appearances, PlayStation announced in June 2026 that FlexStrike will be available to pre-order shortly and released in August.
Now, PlayStation has updated its pre-order blog post with new info that says the FlexStrike wireless fight stick will no longer be released on August 6, 2026. Citing production delays, PlayStation says the controller will be released at a later date, but didn't say specifically when that will be.
The updated press release also states that those who have pre-ordered the FlexStrike fight stick from PlayStation should check their order status through the website, while those who pre-ordered from other retailers should check for updates from the retailer.
Amazon, for instance, has put a temporary release date of December 31, 2026 on the pre-order page but mentions that the actual launch date will be announced later. Nevertheless, you can still go ahead to pre-order the FlexStrike fight stick.
While the FlexStrike has been delayed, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is still set for an August 6 release on PS5 and PC. Those looking forward to playing the game with the FlexStrike fight stick will have to wait or settle for an alternative such as the 8BitDo Arcade Stick (available on Amazon for $89.99) which is compatible with PCs (wired and wireless), or the Hori Fighting Stick Mini for PlayStation (available on Amazon for $59.99) that is officially licensed by Sony.
