Asus will sell the ROG Xbox Ally X20 without the ROG Xreal R1 Glasses

When Asus announced the ROG Xbox Ally X20 at Computex 2026 in June, it revealed that it will be sold as a bundle alongside the ROG Xreal R1 glasses. Now, Asus has announced that buyers will be able to purchase the handheld without the glasses.

Powered by the Ryzen Z2 Extreme, it has 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. There's also a microSD Express card slot, an 80Wh battery, and TMR thumbsticks. Asus has also redesigned the ABXY buttons, which are now closer to those of the Xbox wireless controller.

The D-pad also has a neat trick as it can switch from a standard 4-way D-pad to an 8-way D-pad when you pull it up and rotate it. The ROG Xbox Ally X20 also has improved grips made from TPS which is harder and more durable; a translucent shell; and a few gold colored buttons.

The ROG Xbox Ally X20 + ROG Xreal R1 glasses have been scheduled for release this holiday, so there's a chance that the standalone version will be available at the same time.
