Imperiums: Greek Wars combines classic 4X gameplay with the historical conflicts of ancient Greece and an unusually deep diplomacy system. The strategy game is currently available on Steam with a 75% discount, matching its all-time low price of $7.49.

In Imperiums: Greek Wars, players are thrown into the political and military power struggles of the ancient Mediterranean. Around 30 factions are available, all competing for influence, resources and territory across Greece and the western regions of present-day Turkey. The 4X strategy game from Kube Games is available on Steam with a 75% discount until July 26, reducing the price from $29.99 to $7.49. According to SteamDB, the current offer matches the game's all-time low, which was last reached in May 2026.

Fans of the genre will likely notice clear similarities to the Civilization series within just a few minutes. Like Civilization, Imperiums: Greek Wars is a turn-based strategy game centered around exploring the world, expanding your empire and researching new technologies. Unlike Civilization, however, the campaign does not begin on a largely untouched map. Instead, players must deal with hostile neighbors right from the start. That's where the game's extensive diplomacy system comes into play. In addition to trade agreements and peace treaties, players can plan joint military campaigns and exert political influence over rival kingdoms. Optional Greek mythology elements can also be enabled, allowing heroes to search for legendary artifacts and follow famous myths.

On Steam, Imperiums: Greek Wars holds an 85% positive rating based on more than 540 user reviews. Gaming website ZapZockt awarded the game 78 out of 100 points at launch in the summer of 2020, praising its historical setting, flexible diplomacy system and layered economic mechanics. The biggest criticisms focused on the technical side of the game. The visuals feel dated, the user interface can be unnecessarily convoluted and the learning curve is quite steep, especially for newcomers to the genre. Fortunately, a well-designed tutorial campaign makes getting started considerably easier.

Players willing to invest the time to learn the game's many interconnected systems will find a historical 4X strategy title that may not reinvent the genre but introduces several interesting ideas of its own. History enthusiasts, in particular, are likely to feel right at home. Although Imperiums: Greek Wars is rated as Playable on Steam Deck (currently available on Amazon for $740), ProtonDB reports that some adjustments are required for the best experience.
