Zenless Zone Zero clears $600M on mobile

HoYoverse’s stylish urban action-RPG Zenless Zone Zero has officially cleared the $600 million milestone in mobile player spending. AppMagic’s latest data shows the game has accumulated roughly $603.9 million across iOS and Android since its global launch on July 4, 2024. It is a massive commercial footprint, even if the underlying trend lines show a live-service game settling into a quieter, more predictable post-launch rhythm.
Breaking down the sophomore revenue trajectory
The financial data highlights a clear contrast between the game's initial launch hype and its current baseline. After an explosive first year that raked in $442.1 million on mobile, Zenless Zone Zero’s sophomore year saw player spending cool down by 51%, bringing in $198.9 million.
However, looking strictly at standard mobile storefront metrics only tells a fraction of the story. These tracking numbers completely omit the game's highly active PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S versions. They also miss out on direct-to-consumer web shop purchases and China's massive third-party Android ecosystems, both of which represent major components of the developer's actual revenue loop. Even restricting the view solely to the App Store and Google Play, Zenless Zone Zero comfortably averages over $10 million a month, proving it has firmly secured its own highly profitable, self-sustaining niche.
In a fascinating twist for the studio, the game has broken internal tradition by finding its most lucrative audience outside of domestic borders. Unlike older siblings Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, which historically drew their biggest earnings from China, this urban fighter has found its true home in Japan. Japanese players account for a staggering 42% of lifetime mobile spending, with China sitting in second at 27% and the United States tracking at 10%.
Version 3.1 "The Long Goodbye" is on the horizon
Major content drops remain the primary catalyst for spikes in player engagement and spending. When the Version 3.0 anniversary update, "A Sleepwalker's Confession," arrived in mid-June, it did more than expand the map with the stunning sky island of Roscaelifer... it welcomed an increase in player spending. Driven by highly anticipated debut banners for S-Rank Agents Velina and Ye Shunguang, daily mobile revenue shot up by 217%, peaking at an impressive $1.7 million in a single day.
Though the community is still working through Phase 2 of the current cycle, HoYoverse is already moving on. The studio confirmed that the Version 3.1 Special Program livestream, cryptically titled "The Long Goodbye," is scheduled to air Friday, July 17, 2026. The broadcast is expected to reveal upcoming story expansions and officially introduce the next lineup of S-Rank Agents.
