Capcom rumored to postpone Resident Evil Requiem DLC for Veronica remake

Following Capcom's official announcement of the Resident Evil Veronica remake, new leaks suggest a shakeup to the publisher's near-term survival horror release plans. Industry insider Dusk Golem reports that Resident Evil Requiem's story DLC will now arrive after Resident Evil Veronica, rather than before it as many fans expected.

According to Dusk Golem, Capcom's team is currently "all hands on deck" on the Resident Evil Veronica remake, with an internal target of finishing development by Q1 2027. That could slip to Q2 if needed. The leak frames this as the reason Requiem's DLC has slipped down the priority list, not as a formal statement from Capcom about resource allocation.

Resident Evil Veronica enters active development

Capcom revealed Resident Evil Veronica at Summer Game Fest in June 2026, confirming a 2027 release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. No specific release window beyond "2027" has been confirmed officially. The Q1 or Q2 2027 timeline referenced above comes from Dusk Golem's sourcing, not from Capcom.

A move toward bigger post-launch expansions

The delay lines up with a broader change in how Capcom plans to handle post-launch content. Rather than smaller, frequent add-ons, Dusk Golem says Capcom is now investing in longer, more ambitious story DLC on the scale of Resident Evil 4's Separate Ways or Resident Evil Village's Shadows of Rose. The insider adds that this approach lets Capcom stay responsive to fan feedback while giving development teams room to test new mechanics on lower-risk projects between mainline releases.
