Asus ROG Strix XG27UCMG is a new 27-inch 4K fast IPS gaming monitor with triple mode and 488 Hz support

Asus has just unveiled a new gaming monitor — the ROG Strix XG27UCMG. This 27-inch 4K Fast IPS panel comes as an alternative to the brand's OLED models. The monitor's primary feature is its Triple Mode support — users can switch between three resolution and refresh rate configurations: 4K at 240 Hz, QHD at 400 Hz with overclock, or FHD at 488 Hz with overclock — it does cover a wide range of use cases, from high-res gaming to competitive gaming, where FPS is much more important than resolution.
The Fast IPS panel carries a 0.3 ms minimum response time, a 240 Hz native refresh rate, and a 1300:1 contrast ratio. Peak HDR brightness is rated at 400 cd/m², with typical brightness sitting at 400 cd/m² as well. Color coverage is 95% DCI-P3 and 130% sRGB, with 10-bit color depth and HDR10 support. The display surface is anti-glare, as compared to the glossy TrueBlack coating on Asus's OLED Swift monitors.
The XG27UCMG includes Asus's AI-assisted gaming features as well — Dynamic Crosshair, Dynamic Shadow Boost, and AI Visual — alongside ELMB Sync, which combines extreme low motion blur with variable refresh rate simultaneously. VRR support covers both AMD FreeSync Premium and G-Sync compatibility.
Connectivity includes DisplayPort 1.4 DSC, a single HDMI 2.1 port, USB-C with DP Alt Mode, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, and 15 W USB-C Power Delivery. The stand supports tilt, swivel, pivot, and 110 mm of height adjustment, with VESA 100x100 mm mounting and Aura Sync lighting. The monitor weighs 6.5 kg with stand.
