Asus releases new $699 4K QD-OLED monitor with 1,000 nits brightness and special Mac compatibility

Months after its Computex 2026 debut, Asus has brought the ProArt Display OLED PA279CDV to the US. The new model may not have the latest OLED panel improvements, such as Tandem OLED and RGB subpixel layout, but it promises high color accuracy and macOS-specific features at a price that's fairly affordable to most people. Specifically, the ProArt Display OLED PA279CDV is priced at $699 in the US, and is available now through Amazon.
That said, the PA279CDV offers a 27-inch 4K display built around Samsung Display's 3rd Gen QD-OLED panel. It's rated for up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400. Asus also applies an anti-scratch film that it says is 2.5 times harder than previous QD-OLED panels.
Creator-focused color accuracy with native macOS integration
Color accuracy is one of the biggest selling points of the ProArt Display OLED PA279CDV. It covers 100% sRGB as well as 99% of DCI-P3 and BT.2020 color spaces. Additionally, it is Calman Verified and factory calibrated to ensure high color accuracy right out of the box and even comes with a free calibration software. For Mac users, there's an M Model-P3 color mode designed to match the colors on a MacBook.
Speaking of which, the PA279CDV also features deep integration with macOS. For instance, users can adjust the monitor's brightness and volume directly from a MacBook's keyboard. It also includes USB-C with 96W power delivery and a built-in KVM switch for easy switching between two computers.
Other key features you'll find are proximity and ambient light sensors. The former dims the display when the user steps away, while the latter automatically adjusts brightness to match the surrounding environment. Rounding things out is an ergonomic stand with a slimmer base and integrated cable management.
