Asus unveils new ROG Strix gaming monitor with 420Hz

Asus has just unveiled the ROG Strix XG259QNSR Ace, a new gaming monitor built with competitive esports players in mind. The display pairs a 24.5-inch Full HD panel with an overclocked 420Hz refresh rate, prioritizing frame rate and responsiveness over resolution, which is critical in fast-paced titles such as Counter-Strike 2 or Valorant, where every millisecond of input lag matters.

Powering the monitor is a Fast IPS panel with 1ms gray-to-gray response times as low as 0.3ms under certain conditions. To keep motion sharp at such high refresh rates, Asus uses ELMB Sync, helping reduce motion blur without sacrificing adaptive refresh technologies such as NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility and AMD FreeSync Premium. Variable Overdrive 2.0 is on board for adaptive pixel response.

Beyond raw performance, the monitor is said to provide 90% DCI-P3 and 115% sRGB color space coverage, along with VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. Asus also integrates several AI-assisted gaming tools, including Dynamic Crosshair, Dynamic Shadow Boost and AI Visual, intended to improve visibility and targeting during gameplay.

Connectivity includes one DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a two-port USB hub and a headphone jack, with DisplayPort 1.4 required to utilize the full 420Hz refresh rate.
