Asus starts selling new 27-inch 4K gaming monitor with up to 488 Hz refresh rate
The Asus ROG Strix XG27UCMG gaming monitor is now available in China after making its debut earlier. No pricing or regional availability details were provided at the time.
Its 27-inch Fast IPS panel features Asus' Triple Mode technology, allowing users to switch between three display modes: 4K (3840 × 2160) at 240 Hz, QHD (2560 × 1440) at up to 400 Hz, or Full HD (1920 × 1080) at up to 488 Hz in overclocked mode.
The monitor also includes Smart Pixel technology, which uses a 4K super-resolution algorithm to make lower-resolution games appear sharper. Other display features include VESA DisplayHDR 400, 95% DCI-P3 color coverage, and 130% sRGB coverage. BT.2020 coverage figures are not provided.
It also works with Nvidia G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium, ELMB Sync, and Variable Overdrive 2.0. Asus has also added AI-based gaming features such as AI Visual, Dynamic Crosshair, and Dynamic Shadow Boost.
Connectivity-wise, this gaming monitor offers DisplayPort 1.4 DSC, HDMI 2.1, and USB Type-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode. The USB-C port can deliver video and power to compatible devices over a single cable. The stand supports height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments, and the monitor is also compatible with 100 × 100 mm VESA wall mounts.
The ROG Strix XG27UCMG will go on sale in China on July 31 for CNY 3,499 (approximately $515). Asus is also offering one year of complimentary on-site service to buyers in China, but has not announced pricing or availability for other markets.
It is worth noting that the XG27UCMG (geizhals.eu link), XG27UCGR (geizhals.eu link) and XG27UCDMG (amazon.com link), despite having similar names, resolutions and refresh rates to the product described above, all sport OLED panels.
