Framework laptop 13 Pro reportedly lasts 2x longer vs Framework Laptop 13

First reviews of the Framework Laptop 13 Pro are out, and Framework seems to have made some pretty big improvements over the standard Framework Laptop 13. The new Framework Laptop 13 Pro is better built with a more CNC'd aluminum chassis, has better inputs, and so on. However, few of these improvements have as big an impact in the real-world as the better battery life.

Framework Laptop 13 Pro reviews from the likes of Just Josh reveal that Intel’s superbly efficient Panther Lake Core Ultra 300 series chips and the larger 74.45 Wh battery give the Framework Laptop 13 Pro much better endurance than the Framework Laptop 13.

To provide some context, in our review of the Framework Laptop 13 with the Core Ultra 7 155H, the laptop endured for only 10.5 hours in our WLAN test. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 version of the Framework Laptop 13 managed an even lower runtime of just 8 hours. Framework claims over 20 hours of runtime in local video playback for the Framework Laptop 13 Pro.

Just Josh shows that the Framework Laptop 13 Pro with the Core Ultra X7 358 lasted for 15 hours and 22 minutes in the outlet’s battery test, performing office tasks at 300 nits with BT and Wi-Fi active. The result was miles ahead of the MacBook Pro 14 with the M5 Pro, as Apple’s machine only lasted 9 hours in the same test (get one on Amazon).

More importantly, the Framework Laptop 13 Pro battery life was more than 2x better than the Framework Laptop 13 with a 60 Wh battery pack and the Ryzen AI 7 350 APU. 

This is a huge improvement and would’ve made for an excellent upgrade for the owners of the Framework Laptop 13. Sadly, to use the new 74.45 Wh battery inside your Framework Laptop 13, you reportedly need to buy both a new keyboard deck and a back cover for the Framework Laptop 13, as the Framework Laptop 13 Pro’s battery pack won’t fit inside the regular Framework Laptop 13 chassis.
