Vivo launches new budget smartphone with iPhone 17e-inspired design

Vivo has added a new sibling to its existing T5 series smartphone lineup, the T5e. The smartphone joins the Vivo T5 Pro 5G, the T5x 5G, the T5, and the T5 Lite in the brand’s roster. The main highlight of the smartphone is its iPhone 17e (curr. at $569.99 on Amazon) rear-camera-inspired design, featuring a single 13 MP camera paired with an LED flash. There’s a 5 MP snapper at the front for selfies and video chats. 

A 5,500 mAh battery powers the entire unit but unfortunately supports only 15 W wired charging. Software-wise, it boots Origin OS 6.0 out of the box. Though there's no word on its software support from the brand, indicating software updates may never arrive. As expected, Vivo has opted for an entry-level processor for the entry-level smartphone. Speaking more precisely, the handset is powered by the Unisoc T7225 chipset, which is paired with 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, which is further expandable via microSD slot. 

As for the panel, Vivo has outfitted the T5e with a 6.74-inch LCD display that resolves at HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) resolution with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Dimensionally, it measures 16.7 x 7.69 x 0.89 cm (6.5 x 3 x 0.32 inches) and weighs around 199 grams (0.43 lbs). Plus, it comes with MIL-STD-810H certification. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and an IP64 water and dust resistance rating. 

Available in aero blue and shadow grey color options, the Vivo T5e is priced at ₹13,999 (~$145) for the single 4 GB + 64 GB model. Interested buyers can purchase the smartphone directly from Vivo India’s official website.
