Oppo releases new midrange smartphone with built-in active cooling fan

Oppo has officially launched the K15 smartphone in China, joining the K15 Pro and the K15 Pro+ smartphones in the brand’s roster. The company’s new midrange smartphone shares a very similar design to its Pro siblings. You get the same built-in active cooling fan at the rear, placed in the camera island. The fan cooling is said to keep the smartphone cool during gaming sessions. 

For photography, there’s a dual-camera setup at the rear, consisting of a 50 MP OIS-enabled main sensor and a 50 MP ultrawide unit. Upfront, you also get another 50 MP unit for selfies and video chats. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 chipset paired with 12 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. 

Oppo has incorporated a large 8,000 mAh battery into the K15, which supports 80 W wired charging (Anker 100 W USB-C charger curr. at $59.99 on Amazon). Unfortunately, there’s no support for wireless charging. Software-wise, it runs Android 16-based ColorOS 16 out of the box. However, there’s no word on its software support from the brand. 

Furthermore, the Oppo K15 has a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. Other features include dual-band WiFi 6, NFC, GPS, an infrared sensor, and Bluetooth 5.4. Available in speed white and gale grey colorways, the Oppo K15 is now available for purchase in China via Oppo’s official website for CNY 2,299 (~$340) for the sole 12 GB + 256 GB variant.
