Honor releases new budget smartphone with large 7,500 mAh battery

Yesterday (29th July), Honor released the X7e Plus smartphone. Now, the brand has launched its latest budget-range smartphone, the X6e, in Malaysia. In case you don’t know, this is the seventh member in the X6 series. The smartphone joins the X6, X6a, X6b, X6b 4G, X6c, and X6d in the brand’s roster. 

Honor’s latest affordable smartphone is SGS certified for drop resistance, and the brand claims that the smartphone can withstand drops from a height of 1.8 meters. In contrast, the X7e Plus is more rugged than the X6e, rated for drop resistance from up to 2.5 meters. Despite being an entry-level smartphone, Honor packs a large 7,500 mAh battery into the 4G-enabled X6e with 45 W wired charging support (Anker 45 W USB-C charger curr. at $25.99 on Amazon). 

The X6e is powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra processor paired with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage with no room for storage expansion. It runs Android 16-based MagicOS 10 out of the box. However, there’s no word on its software support from the brand. The IP64-rated smartphone has a 6.61-inch LCD display that outputs at 1604 x 720 pixel resolution with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 1,010 nits. 

You get a 50 MP main camera with up to 10x digital zoom. The main unit is complemented by an auxiliary lens. There’s a 5 MP snapper at the front for selfies and video chats. The front camera supports only 1080p recording, though. Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, a GPS module, and a dual-SIM slot. Unlike the X7e Plus, it lacks an NFC chip, meaning you can’t use the smartphone for contactless payments. 

The X6e is priced at MYR 699 (~$170) and now available for purchase via Honor’s official website. Interested buyers can choose from either sunrise gold or midnight black color options. There’s no information available regarding its availability in other markets at the time of writing.
