The Galaxy Z TriFold 2 might change a lot but a much more exciting Samsung smartphone is expected first

Samsung's first Galaxy Z TriFold never officially made it to most parts of the world. For instance all of Europe was completely ignored in the distribution of the very few Tri-Foldables that were produced 2025 and 2026. It remains to be seen whether the second iteration will receive a broader launch. At the moment, a delay seems unavoidable, as South Korean industry insider Yeux1122 currently mentions in his blog.
As is currently being reported everywhere, rising component costs pose a major difficulty for almost every ambitious smartphone project so many months could pass before we might see the launch of Samsung’s second double foldable tablet. At least we seem to have a good idea what the major improvements compared to the first Galaxy Z TriFold will most likely be. As industry sources reveal, the varying thicknesses of the three case segments will be reduced to a uniform depth, thereby significantly shrinking the overall thickness (currently 12.9 mm) of the device.
The weight, currently 309 grams, is also expected to be reduced thanks to new hinges—a development similar to what we have seen with regular foldables in the past. Another interesting hint suggests that the first Samsung rollable may actually be released before the Galaxy Z TriFold 2. Since the LG Rollable was scrapped before launch back in 2021, Samsung’s rollable project—potentially named the Galaxy Z Slide—could become the first commercially available smartphone with a rollable OLED display—unless Huawei beats the South Koreans to it once again.
