Framework Laptop 13 Pro buyers get free SSD upgrade as company lowers prices

Framework has just announced some positive news, namely a significant update to its upcoming Laptop 13 Pro: all PCIe Gen 5 SSDs will be replaced with the ADATA XPG MARS 970, a drive that promises better performance, efficiency and long-term reliability — all at a substantially lower cost.
The switch automatically applies to all existing pre-orders. Customers who had selected the 500GB option will be bumped up to the 1TB XPG MARS 970 at a price lower than what they originally paid, since the new 1TB tier undercuts the old 500GB pricing. The drive is available in 1TB and 2TB configurations.
Because Framework hasn't begun shipping pre-orders yet, the transition will be seamless for existing customers, who will see their order totals adjusted accordingly. However, there's a catch for those still on the fence: Framework is warning that CPU pricing is expected to rise soon, meaning overall system prices for new orders may increase in the coming weeks. Hence, the company recommends that interested buyers place a pre-order now, noting that all pre-orders will remain fully refundable until shipments begin.
