In our review of the Schenker Connect 15 business laptop, we concluded in the performance section: “Even for an office laptop, the Connect 15 delivers disappointing 3D performance” in balanced mode. Schenker subsequently responded, pointing out that this was specifically due to the processor used, the Intel Core 5 120U. However, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i 15IRU9 with the same CPU and integrated GPU delivered significantly stronger performance.
CPU in focus: Intel Core 5 120U under load
We originally tested the Connect 15 in the recommended balanced mode. In CPU tests, a short benchmark run in performance mode allowed the laptop to offset its performance disadvantage. However, we did not necessarily see that same impression in a brief GPU check in performance mode.
Test setup: balanced mode vs. performance mode in the Schenker Connect 15
For that reason, we took a closer look and reran the most important game benchmarks in performance mode, at least in Full HD and high to maximum settings. How much can the Connect 15 improve its 3D performance in performance mode, and does it then match the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i?
Comparison: Connect 15 vs. IdeaPad Slim 3i in Cyberpunk 2077 & more
In fact, across multiple games, the Connect 15 in performance mode lands virtually on par with the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i. The differences are within the margin of measurement error. Only in X-Plane 11.11 does the Connect 15 slip up and even fall behind its own result from balanced mode. All benchmarks were run on the same day, back-to-back, with short breaks between games.

We also reran Cyberpunk 2077 for another 30 minutes, this time in performance mode. It became clear that our Schenker system effectively matches the Slim 3i.

Noise vs. performance: 33 dB vs. 39 dB
The Schenker Connect 15 (E16) with the Intel Core 5 120U is certainly not a performance monster, and as a business laptop it doesn’t need to be. In most scenarios, battery life, efficiency, and quiet operation are more important. In balanced mode, Schenker deliberately sacrifices additional performance in favor of lower noise levels. In performance mode, however, the laptop operates at the expected level of its CPU.
Noise levels rise from 33 to 39 dB, but still remain within an acceptable range. Some competitors are quieter (IdeaPad Slim 3i), while others show similar noise behavior (Lenovo ThinkPad X9-15).
